The Browns were in tune in Bocce Ball. Monty, Marsha and Glynda Brown, relative newcomers to the District Senior Olympics, each medaled during competition May 3 in Shreveport’s Betty Virginia Park.

Monty won a Gold Medal in men’s 65-79 age group. Marsha captured a Bronze Medal in play for women ages 70-74 and Glynda pocketed a bronze medallion playing against women in the 75-84 age group.

Monty and Marsha are well known to area seniors. They are accomplished musicians and have produced numerous albums and CDs specializing in folk lore of Louisiana and Cajun music. They also volunteer to help develop the Bossier Council on Aging choir.

Senior Olympic regulars Lionel Brangham (Silver) and Duane Chilton (Bronze) finished behind Monty Brown in the very competitive bracket for men 65 to 79 years of age.

Again compliments go to Andrew Walker who prepared the bocce ball courts and had them ready for play when contestants showed up in the early morning. Walker, of the Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR), was the recipient of the District’s Distinguished Service in 2010 for his preparation for district bocce ball. And he hasn’t lost his touch.
